Partners keep families housed after Silver Oak Apartments close

Dozens of low-income families being displaced by the closing of the 337- unit Silver Oak Apartments have found new homes, thanks to a hastily put together partnership of Charlotte nonprofits and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Organizers say Community Link and Charlotte Family Housing helped 34 low -income households (115 people) avoid homelessness by placing them in homes. One additional family remains in Silver Oak, but a housing plan is in place for them to move, officials said. Crisis Assistance Ministry provided $15,095 to 15 households that needed help with security and utility deposits to get into new homes. Other partners in the program, including Communities in Schools and A Child’s Place, helped place some children in new schools and identified other students as eligible for homeless aid programs . Carol Hardison of Crisis Assistance Ministry said the closing of Silver Oak worsens Charlotte ’s affordable housing shortage , which experts say is a key reason family ho

Apple Cinnamon Pull Apart Bread- The Little Epicurean

Image
Sep 29 2015 Apple Cinnamon Pull Apart Bread | the little epicurean" width="750" height="1125" /> Baseball is frustrating me right now. Over the weekend, the Dodgers were swept by the Colorado Rockies. And tonight (Monday night), I just watched the Giants beat the Dodgers. I lose my voice after game. Each pitch is stressful. Each inning leaves me expecting more. Even the dogs get riled up as Alex and I scream (and occasionally cheer) at the TV. The Dodgers only need to win ONE game against the Giants to clinch the NL West. I’m hoping Tuesday is the day. You know what relaxes me? Bread. Bread eating and bread making. I’ve probably said this a million times before, but bread making is one of the most relaxing activities for me. Almost as relaxing as getting a massage. Almost. There is something so calming about it. With breads, I know exactly how it will turn out based on the temperature, smell, and feel of the bread. It’s an outcomes I can always count on. (S

Olathe OKs apartment complex at 119th, Pflumm

The Olathe City Council on Tuesday approved rezoning 27 acres at the southwest corner of 119 th Street and Pflumm Road for a 240- unit apartment complex . The 6-1 vote came after almost a dozen neighbors spoke against the project and dozens more wrote letters and emails to the city voicing their own opposition. But while the residents were unable to scuttle the project itself, they were able to persuade the council to ax plans to connect 123 rd Street through the development to Pflumm Road as planned, a move they warned would have dumped fast-moving traffic on the doorstep of Heatherstone Elementary School . “If we are going to make considerations and alterations to the infrastructure of our city based on residents that are not here in these apartments now, I plead with you to protect the citizens that are here and living in this neighborhood now,” said Tim Laughlin, who lives across the street from the school. The thin strip of land has sat unused since being rezoned in 2001 and

People who live in the homes across the street from the complex said they had never felt unsafe in the area. People who lived in the area said they are glad Wichita police plan to partner with management. "I think everybody is entitled to live in a safe environment, and the people that are not protected, or alcohol or whatever is going on that's causing this to happen, I don't think that they should have to be afraid to live there," said Leslie Nolen. Great apartment - Review of Mandalay & Shalimar Luxury Beachfront Apartments, Port Douglas

Fantastic apartment, very near to everything that's happening in Port Douglas, but far enough away to enjoy the quiet! Though the apartment cost was higher than we would have paid for a hotel, we were able to save a great deal of money by cooking our own meals. Our room was fantastic, and there was a laundry as well! Everything had new upgrades and was quite luxurious. The large bathtub came in handy after a day of diving as well. This review is the subjective opinion of a TripAdvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC Thankyou for taking the time to review Mandalay and it's great to hear you enjoyed our location and apartment facilities. We hope you have some great memories of your stay here us. Report response as inappropriate This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of TripAdvisor LLC

Aspen Chase Apartments - 22 Photos - Apartments - 2960 International Dr, Ypsilanti, MI - Phone Number

6 2960 International Dr Ypsilanti , MI 48197 (734) 434-0297 Aspen Chase is a good place to live. Relatively safe, good support staff and building managers. Beware, however, the rents advertised are not the rents you will end up paying. My apartment is supposed to be $699 but they charge extra $20 per month for my cat, plus extra monthly fees for the electric costs of the general property, garbage and sewage fees, plus administrative handling fees and water for the property. (This does include the water bill or the electricity bill I get for my individual apartment). I've never lived in an apartment complex where I had to pay an extra fee for garbage collection... Also, the fees change per month so it is hard to budget for them. (Average rent I pay total is $750-800). If they advertised the actual rents, I wouldn't have said no to taking an apartment here for $750 a month, it just feels really crappy to see all these extra fees for expenses that should be covered by the man
