It is more like a stage village than one built of bricks and mortar.” It has retained these charms but now there is another name to drop: George Clooney. They are the latest in a long line of celebrity residents of this village four miles east of Reading, from Terence Rattigan to, er, Uri Geller. I arrive expecting to see Clooneys around every corner. Back in June I noted that construction fences had gone up around the Burger King at 575 El Camino Real , near Whipple Avenue. After doing some research I wrote about the planned remodel in my post Fact Finding . I was encouraged when, one week later, a large hydraulic excavator and a small tractor appeared on the site; surely demolition was imminent. However, it wasn’t until just a few days ago—some eight weeks later—that demolition began. On Monday of this week, the site looked like this: Whereas on Tuesday it looked like this: This project is billed as a remodel, but as you can see it is a complete teardown and rebuild. When done we will have an all-new Burger King that is smaller than the original and rotated so that the main entrance is towards the back (facing the Caltrain tracks) with the drive-through up against the sidewalk along El Camino. All the cardio equipment in the fitness center at Preserve at Baywood phase 1 is broken. I' ve submitted work orders multiple times , but nothing is being done to fix this issue. Phase 1 residents do not have access to the phase 2 gym except during business hours. This is very inconvenient. I have only been at The Preserve at Baywood for about a month now, and while there have been issues, the front office has done their best to resolve them. The apartment is in a quiet location yet close to pretty much all the stores you need to do your day to day activities. There are two HEBs with in 3 miles of it, a Target off of Fairmont, and a lot of shopping and restaurant options as well. Parking is plentiful in the first front apartments.
