be the primary threat, flash funding is also an issue especially if we have a lot of rainfall over the same areas that pics of heavy rain yesterday and many we are talking about southern iowa at that point. we will keep a close eye on things. kind of a complicated forecast today but by the plaintiff's severe weather is at least a possibility many of us later on this afternoon.>>lou: keep that in mind. this 8:15 am. we have special guests joining us in studio right now. trevor malmberg is here. property manager of ironwood apartment homes in altoona. when you think about moving to different places a lot of people are thinking west automatically or north. >>jackie: all the statistics are showing young people are moving into the metro and you can tell because there are apartment buildings going up everywhere. everywhere people are thinking of renting. we want to tell you what to look for and other opportunities that are out there because even though downtown is nice there are some other great areas around the metro you got to check out. >> actually. altoona is one of those areas. we have newer property in altoona where we are opening up brand-new construction tomorrow. at the end of august as well. altoona is a booming city. >>jackie: you are continuing to grow. >> we are. >>jackie: to hear you had a contest with residents on designing these places? >> we encourage residents to enter our design contest allowing us to come in and put rafter permits we could use them and kind of takes pride in making ironwood your apartment home . >>lou: give everybody an indication of where ironwood is located because people are familiar with altoona, five minutes from the mixmaster on the east side so easy to get to her. what exit, 143 and you are right there. >> right there estate one where you located in conjunction to say the hy-vee? >> we are about -and-a-half mile south of hy-vee just north of cle elum metrical survey in the middle of the actual ironwood neighborhood. >>lou: that is an easy route to go back and forth. >> absolutely. convenient to i 88 university avenue. >>jackie: a lot of people out thererenting, what shouldthey be looking for to make sure they are finding the perfect fitfor them? >> everyone has a lot of different needs. for us with a pretty wide demographic . convenient to work, not space , family walk-in closets . that when cloud water, sewer, trash and we have a fitness center on site, pool, clubhouse the residence keys 24 hours a day . >>jackie: you kind of dig in to see what you are getting for your money because a lot of times you pay a lot but you don't always get a lot with that. >> absolutely. >>lou: they look gorgeous. look at these, the designs. people have a chance to go out there. whatabout pets? are you pet brenda? rex without having pets. we love cats and dogs. we actually just had bring your dog to work day . we had a lot of dogs come into the office to visit us. [laughter] >>lou: that is great. >>jackie: you mentioned you have a big demographic that live in your apartments because we have been talking about young people moving into the metro but who is looking to rent right now? >> i would say there's actually a lot of young professionals who like to call them that are kind of looking to get maybe out in the suburbs area. that is probably the biggest area right now for altoona. fresh out of college. >>lou: what would you say some of the adventures are to renting a place like this? >> low maintenance. we do not want to worry about the upkeep, removal, lawn care, took a quick call to us and we come in and fix your needs. >>jackie: if something breaks you do not have to worry about a. >> that is correct [laughter] >> 24 hour maintenance . >>jackie: do need to sign a long lease because a lot of times people are in for a business trip orthings like that , helen rejected sign 4 at least? >> we actually operate lease terms anywhere from 2-18 months. too much. we get a lot of demand for those for building a house for just a temporary housing between the sale of the house and moving into a new one. >>lou: what a great idea. never heard of that. >> ourshort-term leases are very popular in thesummer months. >>lou: for those people that are traveling back and forth you said from the main drag down altoona, these are the ones you mentioned just south of where the hy-vee is located. once close to the road? >> yes. >>jackie: besides heavy talk about some other businesses that are nearby because people like to be close tothings besides going to work in other destinations. what else is nearby? >> there's a great local restaurant in altoona called sugar shack up the road from us. with a nice little diner right there . not too far from the target, walmart , the outlet mall probably only about two miles from the outlet mall will be opening up. that's pretty exciting c2 that is building up quick. i would pastor the other day and i was like that is coming up fast. >>lou: a lot of trucks in the parking lot. you mentioned you do have the hy-vee over there . if you turned right instead of left to get the fairway on that side. >> absolutely. >>lou: is perfect. about everything you can imagine. walgreens and hardware store, everything right there and the post office. >> absolutely. >>jackie: just the images of a playground so perfect for families, kids like that, a pool and you said a fitness room as well. a lot of things going on. >> yes. and we have great special for june. and tomorrow june 30. anyone who mentions that they see us here on tv today give them an extra $100 of the rent each month. >>lou: how about that >>jackie: people want more information on this and get advantage of that directly
