ST. LOUIS, MO — On Thursday, three protestors at a candlelight vigil in St. Louis were hurt when authorities say a car pulled into a group of demonstrators. Now, the alleged driver faces a felony count of resisting arrest by fleeing and misdemeanor charges of leaving the scene of an accident and operating a vehicle in a careless and imprudent manner. Kenny "Kiwi" Herring, was shot to death by police officers Tuesday after allegedly stabbing one of them. Family members and friends said Herring was a transgender woman. The following night, demonstrators held a candlelight vigil and protest in her honor, beginning at a community garden that honors transgender people . Activist Heather De Mian said Thursday that after the vigil, 40 to 50 people marched to an intersection and blocked it to protest Herring's death. ATLANTA, GA -- Georgia's Division of Family and Children Services is being enlisted after a 3-year-old child was found wandering a Buckhead street early Tuesday , Patch has learned. The incident took place on Arbor Gates Drive at Arbor Gates Apartments just before 3 a.m., according to news reports. Police canvassing the scene found an apartment with the door open and a man asleep inside , WXIA-TV reports. He turned out to be the child's father. DUNWOODY, GA -- A tree fell Wednesday just feet away from members of a metro Atlanta family after heavy rains soaked the area. The near-tragedy happened in Dunwoody and was shared with the public by the Dunwoody Police Department . COLUMBUS (WCMH) — A toddler was pronounced dead at Nationwide Children’s Hospital Thursday evening after being pulled from a pool on the city’s north side. Columbus police responded to a pool at Worthington Meadows Apartments just after 7pm. They told NBC4 they believed the child was a 2-year-old boy. Sgt. Stan Latta said three patrol officers attempted to resuscitate the child before a medic took him to the hospital. The boy, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at 7:45pm. Police said the boy’s mother was with him at the pool, which was near the apartment complex on Wellingshire Boulevard. The pool was still open for the season. Neighbors said they got to the pool shortly after this happened Thursday and said the child’s mother was screaming and pleading for help.
