Tree Falls Just Feet Away From Dunwoody Family; Van Crushed

DUNWOODY, GA -- A tree fell Wednesday just feet away from members of a metro Atlanta family after heavy rains soaked the area. The near-tragedy happened in Dunwoody and was shared with the public by the Dunwoody Police Department.

For the Dunwoody family, a huge tree fell on two of their vehicles, damaging their home as well. "The homeowner and his grandson were out in the driveway inspecting other trees this afternoon when another tree fell," Dunwoody PD said in a Facebook post. "We are very thankful they were not injured."

Elsewhere in DeKalb, a tree fell upon an apartment building, causing significant damage. No one was inside the dwelling, fire officials said. Another tree was reported down at Lavista Road near Toco Hills. utility crews were on the scene.

Springfield police raid Worthington Street apartment, arrest 4 men on heroin and cocaine charges

SPRINGFIELD -- Four suspects, squatters in a Worthington Street apartment , were arrested on heroin and cocaine charges Thursday night after police raided the place, a department spokesman said. Narcotics officers executed their warrant at 900 Worthington St ., Suite 3, at about 8:30 p.m., Sgt. John Delaney said. People outside the building yelled out warnings as police initiated their raid. The four men were arrested after police found them hiding inside closets and a bedroom, Delaney, public information officer for the department said. Police seized $1,164 in cash along with heroin and cocaine that was packaged for sale and drug paraphernalia.
