(Photo: Google Street View ) ATLANTA -- Residents of an Atlanta apartment complex have been given two more weeks to find a new place to live if the complex owners don 't come up with over half a million in unpaid water bills . The Atlanta Department of Watershed Management announced on Monday that it will wait two weeks to cut off water to Sierra Ridge Apartments . After that, residents will be without water because the owners of the complex allegedly haven 't paid their water bill in some time. "The owners of the Sierra Ridge apartment complex have been collecting rents from tenants every month, but h ave not paid their water bills for more than 2 years," Mayor Kasim Reed said in a statement. "The property owners have declined to take advantage of the billing amnesty program and have refused to enter into any payment agreement to resolve the debt." ATLANTA - The city of Atlanta cut off water service at a northwest Atlanta apartment complex Monday since, officials say, the complex's owner owes nearly $700,000 in unpaid water bills . The people who live at the Sierra Ridge Apartments on Delmar Lane tell FOX 5 they paid their water bills as part of their rent, but the money, apparently, never made it to the city. When the Mitchell family arrived home Monday morning , there was no running water in the sinks or the kitchen, forcing them to store water buckets throughout their home. The couple has three children, who must be clean for the first day of school on Tuesday. “We done paid our rent and just for them to cut the water off at a short notice and we don't know what is going on,” said James Mitchell , a resident. “They don't treat us like we are human beings because you don't do a human being like this,” said Precious Mitchell , a resident. A security guard shot and killed a man at an Atlantic Station apartment complex early Friday morning , according to a report from our media affiliate CBS46 . The shooting happened around 2:15 a.m. in the parking garage of Park District apartments at the intersection of 17th and Village streets. The security guard for the apartment complex , identified as Kenneth Macauly, told police that the man appeared to be “up to something suspicious.” He confronted the man and the situation escalated, police said. Macauly pulled out a gun and fatally shot the man. “We are in the process of interviewing that security guard at this time,” said Capt. Paul Guerrucci of the Atlanta Police Department . “There are a lot of legal issues to consider in regards to this, so there’s a lot of information that we don’t have right now.” Detectives do not believe the man lived at the complex. DUNWOODY, GA -- A tree fell Wednesday just feet away from members of a metro Atlanta family after heavy rains soaked the area. The near-tragedy happened in Dunwoody and was shared with the public by the Dunwoody Police Department . FAYETTEVILLE -- A man pleaded guilty Thursday to stabbing to death a man described as a good Samaritan. Cantrell Graydon stabbed David Allen , 25, at least 10 times early Oct . 24, 2015 at the Stadium Apartments, 1069 Olympic Place. Allen died later at a hospital. Graydon was arrested later on the day of the stabbing. He was charged with capital murder. The 33-year-old Fayetteville man stood before Washington County Circuit Judge Mark Lindsay in a nearly empty courtroom and pleaded guilty in a deal with prosecutors.
