Editor’s note: The Atlanta Police Department no longer releases detailed weekly crime reports, only releasing a snapshot listing each reported crime in Zone 2, which includes Buckhead.
OUT FOR JUSTICE: At an apartment on the 100 block of Glenridge Point Parkway in Sandy Springs July 31, a 57-year-old woman reported upon return from a trip, she discovered several items were missing from her apartment and her laundry room had been damaged. She said she is at odds with the leasing manager and suspects she is involved. The officer’s report noted the victim was burning incense she claimed was due to the “devilish things going on.” She told the officer she would be contacting the “feds” because she could not remain silent anymore about what she knew, having something to do with a rap group and a family member.
THIEVES LOVE VODKA: The owner of the Dunwoody Bottle Shop, located at 2090 Dunwoody Club Drive in Sandy Springs, said July 31 at about 8 p.m., a man came into the store and took two vodka bottles and left without paying. He was described as a black male, white sleeveless shirt, orange shorts and wore a baseball cap backwards. He got into a VW Jetta, temporary tag. Also, on an unknown date, the employees at the Roswell Package Store in the 6400 block of Roswell Road in Sandy Springs said a man came in and stole a bottle of Ciroc Pineapple Vodka and put it in his pants before leaving. He is a described as a thin black male wearing a red hat, a white shirt, red shorts and looking like he was happy to see everyone when he walked out. Men are so egotistical they believe they can steal anything, shove it down their pants and walk out — completely unnoticed. Those items include small tools (not a pun) and even circular saw blades.
MORE ROAD RAGE: At the 5900 block of Roswell Road in Sandy Springs July 31, a 21-year-old woman reported she was followed into a parking lot by a man who parked next to her and “verbally abused” her regarding what he claimed as almost hitting her as she pulled into the lot. The woman apologized, saying she never saw him. She said she then heard a sound as she walked away from her car and realized the man had cut her tire. He even told her so. A witness wrote down the suspect’s car tag number that was tracked to a Sandy Springs address. The officer spoke to the person there who admitted slashing the tire because she almost hit his brand-new vehicle. The man was charged with criminal trespass and released on copy pending an Aug. 30 court date.
BODY FOUND: A man said he was hiking near Allen Road in Sandy Springs July 30 when he came upon the abandoned home at 75 Allen Road. There, on the carport, was the mostly skeletal remains of a female lying in the carport. Items around the body (including a water bottle) indicated she may have been homeless and died in her sleep some time ago. The preliminary report from the medical examiner’s office showed no obvious signs of trauma.
The names and charges above are from area arrest warrants and crime reports. A warrant is merely an accusation of a crime and accused people are innocent until proven guilty. The Sandy Springs and Atlanta police departments release descriptions of suspects when arrests have not been made and residents’ input is needed.
