WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - The Village Park Woodgate Apartments have been at the center of two headlines for murder in just a few months which has at least one resident wanting to move. Two people have been killed by alleged suspects with guns, one in October and another in December at the apartment complex. One resident says she no longer feels safe . “I do not, not any more,” the unidentified woman said. The woman says she wants leave, finding a place to live where she will not be exposed to such serious crimes, but she says the apartment management is holding her to her lease.  The woman says she would have to spend around $900.00 to break her lease. New York- based Somerset Partners LLC has purchased Dogwood Creek , a 278- unit apartment community on Houston Levee Road in Collierville. G & I V Dogwood Creek LLC , a joint venture between Fogelman Venture Partners of Memphis and a fund managed by New-York- based DRA Advisors LLC , sold the community at a rate of $93,525 per unit—translating to a grand total of $26 million, reports the Memphis Business Journal . Built in 1997, the Class A garden style apartment complex had a 97 percent occupancy at the time of purchase and consists of one-, two- and three-bedroom units with an average surface area of 985 square feet. The property will undergo a value- add interior renovation led by Somerset Partners . Brittany Moody was trembling with tears in her eyes Wednesday afternoon as she described the moment the father of her children was killed on Fourth Avenue in front of his three children. “The only thing I could do was close my eyes and scream,” said Moody, who is four months pregnant with one of Tamir Harris’ 12 children. “He shot him in my face.” Moody said Harris, 33, was standing outside of a car speaking with her mother Tuesday morning as his 2-year-old stood by his side. She said she sat in the backseat of the car with her 1-year-old daughter. Harris’ friend sat in another car with Harris’ 11-month-old baby, according to Moody’s account of the incident. Moody, who is the mother of four of his children, said that’s when a man she didn’t know walked up to Harris, put a gun to his head and shot him. PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Police in Providence are investigating a man shot outside an apartment complex Monday morning on Eagle Street, near Valley Street and a couple blocks from Atwells Avenue. A 34-year-old male was shot once outside 11 Eagle Street, Providence Police Cmdr . Thomas Verdi told Eyewitness News . As of Monday afternoon , Verdi said the man was listed in stable condition at Rhode Island Hospital . At last check with police, no one had been arrested, and police had no suspects. “It surprises me because this area is very quiet and a lot of people come and shop in this area and it’s very safe and nothing ever happens right here,” said Antonio Concepcion, a nearby resident who has lived in the area for two years. Fire on Independence Road (Source: WOIO) CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Cleveland firefighters are investigating a structure fire on Independence Road that was called out early Friday morning . The fire started around 5 a.m. near the intersection of Independence Road and Hugo Avenue at a building made of apartments on the second-floor, and the Royal Klassic Bar and Grill on the first. Firefighters arrived to fire showing from the building's windows, but crews were quickly able to extinguish the flames. Arson investigators were called to inspect the building, but the cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed. There are no injuries reported at this time. In about 10 years, the docks at the Port of Anchorage will start closing, crippled by corrosion, unless major repairs are made. But with the clock ticking, it's still unclear who will pay for it, and how. Without a big injection of state or federal funding, officials say the port, which opened in 1961, is more likely to resort to a tariff that leads to higher prices on the vast majority of consumer products that come into the state. That means everyone would pay a little more for a gallon of milk, a loaf of bread, a car or a sheet of plywood. A scary incident at the port earlier this summer accentuated warnings about its condition. At 7 a.m. June 26, the Holland America cruise ship MS Amsterdam docked at the port.
