WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

The Village Park Woodgate Apartments have been at the center of two headlines for murder in just a few months which has at least one resident wanting to move.

Two people have been killed by alleged suspects with guns, one in October and another in December at the apartment complex.

One resident says she no longer feels safe. “I do not, not any more,” the unidentified woman said.

The woman says she wants leave, finding a place to live where she will not be exposed to such serious crimes, but she says the apartment management is holding her to her lease.  The woman says she would have to spend around $900.00 to break her lease.

The Wichita Police Department has taken notice of the serious crimes happening at the Village Park Woodgate Apartments and released this statement: “Due to the frequent calls to the apartment complex, the Wichita Police Department is proactively working with the property management to address the issues related to criminal activity.”

A murder in October that police call gang related took the life of Debrylan Bell. Police arrested four people. Click here for details.

In addition to the murders, there have been 23 other incidents at the apartments that police responded to over the past 90 days. Those include vehicle thefts, car break-ins, burglaries, vandalism calls and drug offenses.

The management at Village Park Woodgate Apartments have received a message from KAKE News looking for comment on what steps they are working on to keeping residents safe and criminals out, but managers have yet to respond.

Springfield police raid Worthington Street apartment, arrest 4 men on heroin and cocaine charges

SPRINGFIELD -- Four suspects, squatters in a Worthington Street apartment , were arrested on heroin and cocaine charges Thursday night after police raided the place, a department spokesman said. Narcotics officers executed their warrant at 900 Worthington St ., Suite 3, at about 8:30 p.m., Sgt. John Delaney said. People outside the building yelled out warnings as police initiated their raid. The four men were arrested after police found them hiding inside closets and a bedroom, Delaney, public information officer for the department said. Police seized $1,164 in cash along with heroin and cocaine that was packaged for sale and drug paraphernalia.
