New York firm pays $58M for Wellington apartments Deal breaks down to more than $180,000 per unit By Sean Stewart-Muniz | March 07, 2016 10:30AM The Solara at Wellington apartment complex Affiliates of Phillips International, a New York real estate company , just paid $58 million to AEW Capital Management for the Solara at Wellington Apartments. Solara is a mid- rise apartment community with 320 units at 12535 South Shore Boulevard , directly north of the Palm Beach Polo & Country Club. It was first built in 1991 and has traded hands between firms several times since then, most recently in 2007 when California’s IMT Residential gave ownership of the apartments to Boston- based AEW Capital Management for an unknown price, according to Palm Beach County property records . At 11:55 a.m. Thursday, a Fairview West resident told police they found a body under a low-hanging bush near their house in the 2600 block of Bowie Lane, according to Corinth police Lt . Jimmie Gregg. Authorities believe it is Draper's body, but the medical examiner has not officially confirmed his identity. Gregg said police don't suspect foul play . He would not elaborate on any potential injuries or wounds found on the body. "We ask that you keep the Draper family in your thoughts and prayers and please respect their privacy during this difficult time," he said in a news release. Derrick Rollins, the man suspected of gunning down a man outside an Ardmore apartment building last month, has been captured in Georgia, officials said. Rollins, 24, was taken into custody by federal marshals in Decatur, Ga. He had been evading a massive manhunt sparked by the fatal shooting of John Le, of Narberth, who was visiting a friend in the Ardmore section of Haverford Township the last week of July. Rollins, who has addresses in Philadelphia, was suspected of a shooting in the city before the fatal Ardmore shooting . He is now being held in the Dekalb County Jail pending extradition . It is believed Rollins surrendered to K9 units after he was spotted with a female acquaintance. Le was reportedly visiting a friend on the 2300 block Haverford Road in the Ardmore section of Haverford Township around 6:10 p.m. Saturday July 29 when Rollins allegedly approached and fatally shot Le in the torso. SCOTT CITY, MO (KFVS) - A longtime city council member in Scott City, Missouri is acting as mayor after the mayor and city administrator resigned . According to City Councilman Gary Spinks , the two resigned on Monday, August 14. Longtime City Council member Norman Brant has taken over the position of mayor. He said former mayor Ron Cummins and Diann Ulmer contacted him late Monday afternoon . Brant said Cummins felt the way the city has been torn apart wasn’t going to get any better if he stayed in office.  He left, Brant said, in hopes of the community healing and coming back together. State Representative Holly Rehder said she is waiting to discuss the matter with council members before going forward with an investigation into Cummins. A Jacksonville police officer shot a man multiple times Sunday morning after, Sheriff’s Office officials said, he took the officer’s Taser during a struggle and pointed it at the officer. The shooting followed a foot chase that began when police responded to a 911 call reporting a domestic dispute, heard a woman screaming and discovered a woman being strangled by a man on top of her inside an apartment at the Cleveland Arms apartment complex about 8:45 a.m. Devanta DeJuan Jones , 22, was shot at least four times by Officer Cliff Sames of the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. The shooting happened after Sames and another officer tried unsuccessfully to stun the man, later identified as Jones, three times with their Tasers during the pursuit in which Jones kicked in the door, then ran through a neighboring apartment occupied by a mother and three children. KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — A Missouri man is accused of critically injuring a woman by purposely dropping an old television set onto her from a third-floor balcony. Jackson County prosecutors charged 36 -year-old Otishus Kirkwood of Kansas City, Missouri, with first-degree assault and armed criminal action . Authorities say the victim, who was not identified, sustained life-threatening injuries. Investigators allege in court filings that officers on Thursday found the victim unconscious in front of the apartment building, near a broken tube television set . Police say a witness reported that Kirkwood threw the large television from an apartment’s third-floor balcony, striking the victim on the head. The apartment’s occupant said the victim and Kirkwood were homeless, and that he allowed them to occasionally sleep in his apartment.
