As the Charlotte Housing Authority moves forward with plans to redevelop the aging Tall Oaks subsidized housing in the fast- gentrifying Cherry neighborhood , the last two families there say they can’t move out, in part because of improper evictions from CHA on their records. Most of the buildings at Tall Oaks, a 50- unit housing complex owned by CHA on Cherry Street near the Metropolitan shopping complex , have already been torn down. In its place, CHA is developing 81 units of new subsidized housing . The next phase of the project could include building up to 200 units of “ workforce housing ” for families making $38,500‐$77,040. Along the busy Peachtree Industrial Boulevard in Dunwoody is a sprawling collection of two- story apartment buildings . The units are worn but relatively kept up. Dozens of children play soccer or run in the parking lots. And numerous vans with ladders atop their roofs indicate a working class clientele . The buildings and their occupants might be largely unremarkable, but the Dunwoody Glen and Lacota apartment complexes and their 2,000-plus mostly Hispanic residents are now the focus of a controversy that has divided this newly incorporated suburban enclave and led to a federal lawsuit . All the cardio equipment in the fitness center at Preserve at Baywood phase 1 is broken. I' ve submitted work orders multiple times , but nothing is being done to fix this issue. Phase 1 residents do not have access to the phase 2 gym except during business hours. This is very inconvenient. I have only been at The Preserve at Baywood for about a month now, and while there have been issues, the front office has done their best to resolve them. The apartment is in a quiet location yet close to pretty much all the stores you need to do your day to day activities. There are two HEBs with in 3 miles of it, a Target off of Fairmont, and a lot of shopping and restaurant options as well. Parking is plentiful in the first front apartments. Trees and flowers are planted alongside most streets, along with hiking/biking trails. High-speed commuter rails whisk workers to nearby urban centers  for their 9-to-5 jobs. Large tree branches fall down in... LOMPOC, Calif. - Large tree branches came tumbling down onto an apartment in Lompoc early Thursday morning. It all happened along the 200 block of H Street. It’s a wake up call residents didn ’t expect to get. "It felt like an earthquake, it felt like our place was shaking,” said Cara Jackson. She lives in the apartment complex where the tree came crashing down.  Without any warning, a large tree branch from an Italian Stone Pine tree came thumping down.  "It’s scary whenever these trees come down,” said Jackson.  The first thing Jackson did was to make sure everyone including her son were okay.
