ATLANTA (CBS46) - A security guard shot and killed a man at an Atlantic Station apartment complex early Friday morning , police said. The shooting happened around 2:15 a.m. in the parking garage of Icon City Apartments , located at the intersection of 17th and Village streets. The security guard for the apartment complex , identified as Kenneth Macauly, told police that the man appeared to be "up to something suspicious." He confronted the man and the situation escalated, police said. Macauly pulled out a gun and fatally shot the man. "We are in the process of interviewing that security guard at this time," said Capt. Paul Guerrucci of the Atlanta Police Department . "There are a lot of legal issues to consider in regards to this, so there's a lot of information that we don't have right now." San Francisco State University police on Tuesday were investigating an attempted burglary that occurred at an on-campus dorm two days before the start of instruction. A resident of an apartment located in the campus’ Centennial Village, an apartment complex reserved for Upper Division students , reported that two suspects kicked in the front door to his apartment at 9:51 p.m. Monday, according to police. After forcing their way into the apartment, the victim reported that one of suspects, who was carrying a clipboard, approached him and informed him that his valuables were not safe. The suspect prompted the victim to gather up his valuables and follow the suspects outside of the apartment. The victim refused to comply, and the suspects fled the apartment in an unknown direction. Police who combed the area were unable to locate the suspects. The victim described one of the suspects as a black man in his early 20s with a small goatee who was wearing a purple bandana and a grey hoodie....

The fire was reported just after 4 a.m. Monday at Prince Hall Apartments on Prince Hall Lane . Fire Marshal Brad Hall said a rag was soaked in gasoline, placed between the door and screen door of an apartment and then set on fire. The call was originally reported as a fire with entrapment because the fire was outside the door, but Hall said everyone made it out unharmed. Hall said the residents were able to put out the fire using a pot of water. HOUSTON (KTRK) -- After more than 48 hours without power, residents in an east Houston apartment complex are getting some relief. Electricians began working at 7 a.m. Monday, trying to restore power to 75 units at the Rollingwood Apartments which have been without power since Saturday afternoon. Eureka property management said people can relocate to another complex across the street which does have power and generators will be brought in on Tuesday. Electricians will also be back Tuesday to fix an underground wire, a problem that was discovered on Monday while fixing an old fuse holder. With a heat advisory outside, it is miserable inside the apartments without power. "We've been in hell, something. Hot, so hot for the kids. We had to stay in hotel for the last two days," Angelica Ruiz said. Her family doesn't have any more money for hotels, so they opened every door and window to try to cool down. CORTE MADERA, Calif. (KGO) -- Corte Madera's Town Council will hear a report updating the reconstruction of a brand new and controversial apartment complex , Tam Ridge Residences . Its 180 units should have opened a year and a half ago, but that was before inspections revealed water leaks and wood rot that forced MacFarlane Partners LLC to tear much of it apart, and build it again. MacFarlane's legal case against the original contractor has led to a multi- million dollar lawsuit . A company spokesperson shared little regarding the cost of this project, but said it is moving along and expects to begin renting in June. According to Sgt. Ed Hashce with Tempe PD, two male victims were transported to the hospital. One of the victims has been released and the other is still hospitalized. His condition is unknown. HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- It's perhaps one of the warmest weeks in Houston and residents at Castlewood Apartments were without power for at least 16 hours. Residents told ABC13 the power went out Saturday night and many families left the complex. "It is a problem with customer-owned equipment, which they will need to have repaired by an electrician before we're able to restore power to them," a spokesperson for CenterPoint Energy said. AVENTURA, FLA. (WSVN) - - A Florida wildlife organization safely captured one of three king pigeons spotted outside an Aventura apartment complex . The Florida Wildlife Kids Organization came to the complex on Saturday, two days after resident Marina Navarro and her two sons first saw the birds perched up in a tree branch outside their unit. Navarro told 7News on Friday that the birds had barely moved and had not eaten for well over 24 hours, likely out of fear, prompting her to alert several bird rescue groups in the hopes of saving them. Kara Apel NASHVILLE, TN -- Police say they have arrested two men who they believed robbed people in a downtown Nashville parking lot early Saturday morning . The two victims, both from Clarksville, had left a downtown bar and were walking through the parking lot at the intersection of 2nd Avenue South and Broadway around 1:20 a.m. The victims, ages 25 and 27, told police they saw the suspects standing near a Huyndai Sonata. According to police, the suspects forced the victims into the car at gunpoint before robbing them. The victims were released, which is when they called police with the vehicle's tag number. Police said the car is registered to a woman who lives at an apartment complex on Brick Church Pike . Officers with the Madison Police Precinct spotted the car around 3:30 a.m. in parking lot of the complex. Richard Maupins, 25, was allegedly driving the vehicle. PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) - Phoenix police are investigating after a transgender teen was apparently assaulted by up to 20 people at a west Valley apartment complex .  Dakota Kern says she was invited to a pool party at the complex near 35th and Dunlap avenues on August 16. The 18-year-old, who has identified as a woman for five years, says she knew some people at the pool, others were strangers.    Soon after, Kern says, people began shouting gay slurs so she and two friends started to leave the pool area.  As she was walking away, she says a man yelled “get it, get it” and a group of up to 20 people attacked her. HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. (AP/CLARKSVILLENOW) — A Kentucky woman whose daughter drowned in a swimming pool is facing a homicide charge in Tennessee. News outlets report 25 -year-old Kristin Mays of Elkton, Kentucky, was arrested on a criminally negligent homicide charge on Tuesday in connection with the death of her 7-year-old daughter on Aug. 12. Detective Sgt. Jim Vaughn with the Hendersonville police said in a news release that Mays failed to maintain visual supervision of the girl while they were at the swimming pool at a Hendersonville apartment complex . The girl was discovered underwater in the deep end of the pool and pronounced dead at a hospital. Mays is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 27. It’s unclear if she has a lawyer. DAVENPORT, Fla. - A 25-year-old Orlando man was arrested on DUI charges after he struck 17 parked vehicles at an apartment complex in Osceola County , the Florida Highway Patrol said. Tony Futch was arrested and booked into the Osceola County Jail .
