Teens charged for break-in, robbery in Dartmouth

A pair of teenagers have been arrested following a robbery from two weeks ago in Dartmouth.

Police say at 3:08 p.m. on Aug. 2, officers responded to a call of a robbery on Primrose Street where a 55-year-old man was being followed by a woman and a male youth into his apartment building.

The man said he had seen this same couple at a drug store on Primrose Street where he had made a purchase.

Police say the couple followed the man to his apartment and then forced their way in as he entered it. The woman had a rock in her hand and the male youth had a knife and they demanded the man’s purchase.

The victim stomped his feet on the floor and got his neighbour’s attention. The suspects fled the building on foot.

Police say the victim was not injured and the suspects did not manage to steal anything during the altercation.

On Aug. 4 at roughly 7 p.m., officers arrested a 16-year-old male youth from Dartmouth inside a restaurant on Nantucket Avenue. He appeared in Halifax provincial youth court the next day to face charges of:

  • Break and enter
  • Robbery
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Breaching a recognisance (two counts)
  • Breaching of a probation order (two counts)

On Aug. 15, Cumberland District RCMP arrested Makira Dawn Armstrong, 18, of Dartmouth and transferred her to the Halifax Regional Police.

She appeared in Dartmouth provincial court Wednesday to face charges of break and enter, robbery and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Springfield police raid Worthington Street apartment, arrest 4 men on heroin and cocaine charges

SPRINGFIELD -- Four suspects, squatters in a Worthington Street apartment , were arrested on heroin and cocaine charges Thursday night after police raided the place, a department spokesman said. Narcotics officers executed their warrant at 900 Worthington St ., Suite 3, at about 8:30 p.m., Sgt. John Delaney said. People outside the building yelled out warnings as police initiated their raid.
