The Best of BESTA: Design Inspiration for IKEA's Most Versatile Unit

Oh IKEA, where would we be without you? From the ubiquitous BILLY bookcase to the beloved RASKOG cart, the Swedish giant's versatile pieces problem-solve in homes the world over. One of my personal furniture faves is the BESTA collection: the mix-and-match cabinets can sit on the floor or be hung on the wall, and come in a range of sizes, colors and finishes. The range is so minimal and versatile, it's almost impossible not to put your own stylish spin on it. Check out how these homes from around the internet did just that.

In the lead image, found via My Unfinished Home, wall-hung units in a pale timber casing (part of the IKEA range) show off BESTA's intrinsic minimal style.

Here, the top is custom: a chunky Elle Decoration Sweden home pairs the wall-hung units with a chunky concrete topper for maximum industrial chic.

BESTA for books! Danish magazine Bolig shows how a whole wall of the units makes a great library. The clever mix of doors and open storage is stylish and practical.

Blogger Brittany Makes hacked her BESTA to create this cute bar cart: vintage legs and brass-tone pulls make this piece barely recognizable as IKEA.

This hallway reading nook from Alvhem is a great example of how the BESTA units can appear built in. Here the upper units were surrounded my trim for a sleek finish, and the lower ones topped by a throw and cushions for a modern-yet-warm feel.

A few floor units to the back of a sofa create a console with storage, from Homey Oh My.

In this hack by Design By S.H., found via their Instagram, the units get a leather pull handle, adding a touch of tactile warmth to an otherwise minimal and monochrome setup.

BESTA can work in a wardrobe, too. Today Is Magazine shows us how's it's done—floor units for hidden storage, and a hanging rail and shelves above.

BESTA's sleek modernity even works in a child's room, as this space created by Polish blogger Ana of Any Blog shows. I love how the differently-sized units, topped by a cushion, allow for a sweet reading nook in her daughter's bedroom.

Seven Casa Del Rio apartment units sold at launch Published on: Saturday, December 01, 2012 Melaka: Seven of the 32 apartment units in Casa del Rio Residences , an exclusive apartment overlooking the Melaka river bay , were sold at the launch here Friday.
