Teens entering sixth grade through 12th grade are invited to join the Teen Book Club for the Sept. 9 meeting. Teens choose monthly reads, get to know new friends, and enjoy snacks. Book club members are currently reading "Suicide Notes from Beautiful Girls" by Lynn Weingarten. Newcomers are always welcome. Call for more information or for staff to place a hold for you on the most recent read.
Lego Crew
Milford Public Library’s Lego Crew will meet from 10:30 a.m. to noon Sept. 9. Building with LEGOs encourages STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) skills. Come on your own or come with a friend. Families are invited to spend time together through this creative exercise. Teens and kids older than 4 years old are welcome to come. Children younger than 6 years old need to be accompanied by an adult.
Labor Day closing
Milford Public Library will be closed for Labor Day Sept. 4. Please place items to return in the dropboxes located on the south side of the library. Items can be renewed prior to Labor Day by calling. The library will reopen at 10 a.m. Sept. 5.

Pyramid chair yoga
Pyramid chair, easy yoga, which meets Tuesday mornings at 10:15 a.m., will continue through September. Adults are invited to bring a large towel and give the class a try. The Thursday morning Walk with the Trails and advanced chair yoga begins promptly at 9:15 a.m. Those wishing to join should enter through the brown side door on Harrison Street.
Data collection
Phase two of the strategic plan for the Syracuse library is to collect information about the community. The MCLS data collection team is asking people in the Turkey Creek community to attend group conversations about their aspirations for our community. The times are 6 p.m. Aug. 30; and 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Aug. 31. There is a meeting for kids and teens Wednesdays at 3:30 p.m. and Thursdays 2 p.m. meeting is at the Community Center. The team asks that individuals who can attend to let them know by calling or signing up at the library.

Art program for kids
From 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, staff and children 5 through 12 will fill and pop paint filled balloons, creating new pieces of art. Call or visit the library website to register. Registration is requested, not required.
Mahjong
The library will host its regular Mahjong game from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Wednesday. No experience or registration is necessary, come to learn the game and have fun.
Nappanee quilts: past and presentStaff will have all the Nappanee Center's quilts on display for guests to view from Sept. 1-30. Come and see the collection of beautiful quilts from today and yesteryear. No registration is necessary.
Teen TuesdayThis month, teens will make slime from 4 to 5 p.m. Sept. 5. Teens will be making two different kinds of slime. Register by Aug. 29.
Dementia caregiver support groupMeet together for information, sharing and support with others who are caring for loved ones with Alzheimer’s or Dementia, from 7 to 8 p.m. Sept. 5.
Selecting stocksJoin Dan St. Germain in this series, to learn about selecting stocks for investment, from 7 to 8 p.m. Sept. 5. During session one, learn where to find information and the criteria for selecting stocks. Register by Aug. 29.

Kids weekly fall programs
Registration starts today. Sessions begin this week. Books & Babies is at 10 p.m. Thursdays. Toddler Time is Tuesdays or Wednesdays at 10 a.m. Pre-school Story Time is at 11 a.m. Tuesdays or Wednesdays. Register at event calendar on library homepage.
'Dungeons & Dragons' Beginners and experts, ages 12 and older, are welcome to play "Dungeons & Dragons" beginning at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 2. Register online through event calendar or call librarian Lori at ext. 1109.
Lego ClubKids can build whatever they like from the library's legos beginning at 4 p.m. Sept. 5. Please do not take personal Legos. The program is for children in grades kindergarten through fifth. Kids younger than 9 must be accompanied by an adult.
Coloring & Craft ClubTake your own craft or coloring supplies to Crystal Valley Apartments at 10 a.m. Sept. 11 for adult coloring day. Coloring sheets will be provided. Open to all adults.

Book Bites
Book Bites is an informal story hour that takes place in the children’s area of the library. Join staff at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday to hear “Tooth Fairy Cat” by Deborah Underwood. No registration is required and all ages are welcome.
Fall Story Hour
Registration for fall Story Hour sessions has begun, and sessions will start in September. Beginning Story Hour (ages 18-36 months) takes place on Wednesday mornings, from 10:15 to 10:45 a.m. for eight weeks. Preschool Story Hour (ages 3-5 years) sessions take place each Monday or Tuesday at 10:15 a.m. for approximately 13 weeks. Stop in or call the library to get registered.
Dial-a-story line“The Goats in the Wheat Field” is currently running on the Dial-A-Story Line at 862-4441. Callers will hear how when all else fails to get the job done, ask a bee.

Library fines and fees
Patrons can now pay library fines and fees using debit or credit cards. Visit the library circulation desk to make a payment. Fees for faxes and copies remain cash only. Online credit or debit card payments are not accepted at this time.
Storytime/Baby & Me
These programs will not meet during August, but will resume in September.
Drop-In Knitting Circle
Local resident Cindy, an experienced instructor and prize-winning knitter, will host a twice-monthly knitting circle at GPL, 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday. All skill levels are welcome; instruction is provided. All ages are welcome, but children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Participants should bring their own supplies/projects (beginners should bring a ball of cotton yarn and a pair of size 6 or 7 needles). No registration is required, and patrons can come and go as they please throughout the meeting time.
Teen Iron Chef
Join us to make tasty dishes with the mystery ingredient from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. This event is open to all teens in grades six through 12. To learn more or to register, call the register.

Take a 3- to 5-year-old to story time at 10:30 a.m. each Tuesday. Miss Tehillah will read stories and sing songs, then help the children make a craft to take home.
