Man assaulted neighbors claiming they blocked his garage

A man is accused of assaulting his neighbors in Austin after claiming they were blocking his garage according to an arrest affidavit. Brent Grablachoff, 36, was charged with assault with injury to the elderly, a third-degree felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

His victims were a 65-year-old man and the man’s 68-year-old wife who said they did not know him, the affidavit said. It said the incident happened Tuesday at apartments at 9520 Spectrum Drive in a part of Austin in Williamson County.

The male victim said he and his wife were packing up boxes to move to Oregon in their vehicle parked in front of their apartment building, the affidavit said. It said he saw a man — later identified as Grablachoff — pull up in a car, get out of it and start yelling at his wife about moving their vehicle.

The man said that as he stepped forward to protect his wife, he saw Grablachoff try to grab the keys out of his wife’s hand but she pulled her arm away, the affidavit said.

It said Grablachoff then grabbed the man’s wife by her arms and threw her to the ground. The man said he rushed over to his wife and Grablachoff grabbed him by his arm saying, “Move your (expletive) car or I’m gonna beat the (expletive) out of you,” the document said.

Police, who were notified at 8:58 p.m., noticed bruises on the male victim’s arm. His wife later told police that when Grablachoff pulled up in his car, he told her he was upset that her car was blocking access to his garage, the affidavit said.

It said the woman told police there was enough room for Grablachoff to get into the garage and she motioned for him to pass by but he refused. She said that after Grablachoff tried to get the car keys out of her hand, he shoved her into her open car door, the affidavit said. Police noticed redness around her wrists, according to the affidavit. The woman told police her ribs hurt from being shoved because she had just been released from the hospital for fractured ribs.

Grablachoff told police that when he returned home around 8:40 p.m. Tuesday the couple’s car was blocking access to his garage, the affidavit said. He said the woman motioned for him to pass by but he stayed in his car until the man confronted him, according to the affidavit.

It said Grablachoff told police he got into a verbal fight with the man and tried to take the man’s car keys out of the man’s pocket when the wife grabbed Grablachoff by the wrist to stop him, the affidavit said.

Grablachoff told police he then parked his car “in the garage and went upstairs to call the police since nothing happened,” the affidavit said. Grablachoff also told police he never touched the victims, the affidavit said.

He was released from the Williamson County Jail on Wednesday after posting bail set at $15,000.
