GREENSBORO — Police are still working to establish a motive in the shooting of a man early Saturday morning.

Anthony James Dochtermann, 25, was shot around 2:55 a.m. and later died at the hospital from his injuries, according to police.

Police received a 911 call about a shooting at the Ashton Woods Apartments at 3927 Hahns Lane from a friend Dochtermann was visiting.

"He went outside and it sounds like he got shot," the caller told the dispatcher. "He walked outside, like he was leaving."

Later in the call, the friend said Dochtermann, "doesn't know who shot him or anything."

The friend helped Dochtermann while on the phone with 911, telling the dispatcher Dochtermann was still awake and breathing, but "bleeding a lot." The friend was unable to tell the dispatcher where Dochtermann was shot or how many times he had been shot.

The caller told the telecommunicator that gunfire was heard Friday night, before Dochtermann was wounded.

"Somebody shot out here last night, I don't know if you had a call," the caller said.

Dochtermann had been shot in the parking lot of the apartment complex, said Capt. Mike Richey with Greensboro Police. He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police are still trying to establish a motive in the shooting and do not have a suspect, Richey said. He said it may not necessarily be someone Dochtermann knew.

"All options are still open," he said.

An autopsy will be performed today or Tuesday.

Anthony James Dochtermann, 25, was shot and killed. Police received a call about a shooting at the Ashton Woods Apartments about 2:55 a.m. Saturday. When they arrived at the complex at 3927 Hahns Lane they found Dochtermann.

He had been shot in the parking lot of the apartment complex, said Capt. Mike Richey with Greensboro police. He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police are still trying to establish a motive in the shooting and do not have a suspect, Richey said. He said it may not necessarily be someone Dochtermann knew.

"All options are still open," he said.

Dochtermann did not live at the apartment complex, Richey said. He was visiting friends.

An autopsy will be performed today or Tuesday.

GREENSBORO — Residents at Ashton Woods Apartment Homes where a man was shot to death said they did not hear any gunshots this morning.

Police said Anthony James Dochtermann, 25, was found dead from an apparent gunshot wound this morning at 3927 Hahns Lane. The death has been ruled a homicide but police would not release any more information.

Police were called to the area about 2:55 a.m. today in response to the shooting.

A woman in the management office of the housing complex who only identified herself as the property manager, said she did not know if Dochtermann was a resident at the complex and did not know if he was found inside or outside building 3927.

Police would not say where he found or where on his body he was shot.

Residents in the area said they did not know Dochtermann and did not know if he was shot inside one of the townhouses or outside.

The shooting remains under investigation.

GREENSBORO — Police are investigating an early morning homicide on Hahns Lane.

About 2:55 a.m., officers were called to an apartment at 3917 Hahns Lane for a reported shooting and found Anthony James Dochtermann, 25, dead.

Springfield police raid Worthington Street apartment, arrest 4 men on heroin and cocaine charges

SPRINGFIELD -- Four suspects, squatters in a Worthington Street apartment , were arrested on heroin and cocaine charges Thursday night after police raided the place, a department spokesman said.
