How to stream NFL games on Roku players and Roku TVs

The NFL season is just about here! That means every football fan is getting excited to spend their weekends keeping up with all the action. Regardless of if you have cable or not, you have numerous options to watch NFL games with your Roku device. Most of the streaming services mentioned below have free trials so you can give them a test drive before the season starts.

Streaming NFL games is easier than ever. Below, get details on how to watch NFL games live or on demand.

WATCH NFL LIVE

Sunday Night Football (see the schedule)

Sunday Night Football is often one of the premier games of the week and NBC will own the broadcast. How to watch:

Monday Night Football (see the schedule)

Getting access to the NFL on ESPN means you’ll be able to stream Monday Night Football games every week. You can get access to the WatchESPN channel in a couple different ways:

  • Use your subscription from a participating cable or satellite provider to authenticate the WatchESPN channel
  • ESPN is also available with a subscription to PlayStation Vue, fuboTV, Sling TV, DIRECTV NOW, or CenturyLink Stream (you can also use your subscription to these services to authenticate WatchESPN)

Thursday Night Football (see the schedule)

You can find these games on a few different channels. NFL Network will have all the games, and CBS and NBC have select games. Click the link above to reference the schedule.

  • All games: NFL Network is available on PlayStation Vue, Sling TV, or CenturyLink Stream
  • Select games on CBS: available on CBS All Access, and in select markets on PlayStation Vue
  • Select games on NBC: available if you have a NBC subscription from a participating cable, satellite or telco provider to stream on the NBC Sports channel. NBC is also available in select markets with a subscription to PlayStation Vue, fuboTV, Sling TV, or DIRECTV NOW
  • Have an antenna? Generally CBS and NBC are accessible via antenna broadcasts (find out which HDTV channels are available in your area)

AFC games

If you’re a fan of a team in the AFC, then getting streaming access to CBS is critically important if you want to watch your team play.

NFC games

FOX is the main broadcaster of NFC games, so every week there will be several games to watch on the network.

NFL SUNDAY TICKET

If you already have the NFL Sunday Ticket through a DIRECTV subscription, you can log in with your credentials and watch out-of-market Sunday afternoon games through your Roku device.

The NFL Sunday Ticket is available to Roku customers in the U.S. living in an apartment, condominium or townhome who are not receiving DIRECTV service, as well as those who were not able to install a DIRECTV dish at their home due to an obstruction or other restriction. Check eligibility here.

HIGHLIGHTS AND CLIPS

NFL Redzone is available on Sling TV (via Sports Pack add-on) and Centurylink Stream (via Sports Extra add on).

ON DEMAND

NFL Game Pass is a great channel for football fans. You can watch every single game during the season on-demand shortly after it ends. The other great feature is every single out-of-market NFL Preseason game is available to live stream. You can subscribe for the full season to NFL Game Pass for $99 on the NFL channel. A subscription to NFL Game Pass also allows you to access the NFL Films archive.

Clearly, you’ll have plenty of different options for watching NFL games on your Roku device. If you plan ahead, you’ll have no reason to miss any of the biggest games this year!
