Grand Rapids, MI Apartments For Rent & Rental Listings
Grand Rapids MI breaks a few trends when it comes to commonly held assumptions for renting an apartment. Usually the best way to look at an area is by distinct districts. However, arguably the best feature of Grand Rapids are the grand rapids which run through town. The most highly sought after apartment rental properties are those which give view and access to the Grand River. The banks and biking trails which line it offer even more ways to enjoy it. However, one notable advantage to the area is that costs in Michigan tend toward the lower side of things. Even an apartment with great access to the river will typically be comparable to the national average. It's quite reasonable to expect a one or two bedroom apartment in the area for less than $1,000. However, there's more to Grand Rapids than natural surroundings. The city boasts an active artistic community. It has such renown that the ArtPrize, one of the largest and most prestigious art events, was held there in 2009. The event would later return in 2010 with the work of 1,713 different artists on display. Grand Rapids also boasts a gold level LEED certified museum. The Grand Rapids Art Museum is the cultural heart and soul of the city. Rental properties closer to the museum, however, typically fetch a higher than average price. In general one should expect to pay around 20% to 30% more than the average price for other areas within Grand Rapids. Lastly, when deciding on a location it's important to take travel into consideration. For those who prefer public transportation, the city boasts a fairly extensive bus line. The one caveat is that service on the edge of the city can be somewhat sparse compared to within the city center.
