Gas station reopening under new ownership in downtown Meriden
MERIDEN — A gas station under construction in the city’s downtown is nearing completion.
Manager Hussein Altareb said he hopes to open the Citgo gas station, 154 Hanover St., next week. The station will feature four gas pumps and a convenience store.
Altareb praised the high-traffic area around the gas station, located at the corner of Hanover Street and Cook Avenue. Workers were completing construction inside the store this week.
P&P Investment Group is the listed owner of the property, which was last sold in November after it was foreclosed upon, according to city records. The principal of P&P Investment Group is listed as ZZ Management, according to state records. The principal of ZZ Management is Naeem Khalid, who has a business address in Rocky Hill.
The previous gas station at the corner, Kwik Mart, owed more than $300,000 in back taxes in 2015, city records state. A building permit for the construction of a canopy was issued to P&P Investment Group in March.
The 1,600-square-foot building was constructed in 1962.
Citgo has additional city locations at 54 S. Broad St. and at 561 W. Main St.
