The Roasterie to Open Fifth Coffee Cafe at Woodside Village in March | Kansas City Restaurant News

The Roasterie is on a growth tear: in March, the popular Kansas City-based coffee café plans to open a fifth location in the new Woodside Village in Westwood, Kansas.

In addition to this new location, owner Danny O’Neill plans to open another café in Corrigan Station in the Crossroads after the first of the year. The Roasterie currently operates three other locations in Brookside, Leawood and the corporate office and café on Kansas City’s West Side, where O'Neill opened his first coffee production facility over 22 years ago.

Woodside Village is a new live/work development in Westwood, Kansas, that integrates the Woodside Health & Tennis Club with 335 new luxury residential apartments and 36,500 square feet of retail shops. The Roasterie Café at Woodside Village is slated for completion in March 2017 and is part of the development’s initial phase.

“We’re thrilled to be part of the energizing of this iconic Kansas City neighborhood,” O’Neill says.

Hufft Projects will be designing the 2,462-square-foot café space, which features contemporary lines, natural woods and highlights the company’s aviation theme. This café will offer a signature brew bar with a slow pour experience, with seating for 77 inside, and an additional 24 on a covered patio.

A full selection of The Roasterie's traditional air-roasted coffee, tea and espresso drinks will also be offered, along with coffee equipment and accessories and other Roasterie-branded merchandise.

Blair Tanner of Los Angeles-based Tanner and White, developers of Woodside Village, believes The Roasterie’s presence aligns with the project’s overall mission of offering residents and tenants accessibility to local goods and services.

“A critical focus of Woodside Village is to provide key amenities to the Westwood neighborhood in general,” Tanner says. “The Roasterie Café at Woodside Village is a component of the high-quality local products and brands available. We’re excited to welcome Danny’s team to our well-curated mix of retail options.”

Springfield police raid Worthington Street apartment, arrest 4 men on heroin and cocaine charges

SPRINGFIELD -- Four suspects, squatters in a Worthington Street apartment , were arrested on heroin and cocaine charges Thursday night after police raided the place, a department spokesman said. Narcotics officers executed their warrant at 900 Worthington St ., Suite 3, at about 8:30 p.m., Sgt. John Delaney said. People outside the building yelled out warnings as police initiated their raid. The four men were arrested after police found them hiding inside closets and a bedroom, Delaney, public information officer for the department said. Police seized $1,164 in cash along with heroin and cocaine that was packaged for sale and drug paraphernalia.
