Police on the hunt for Shreveport shooting suspect

SHREVEPORT, La. - Authorities are trying to track down a man in connection with a shooting in Shreveport's Queensborough neighborhood.

The shooting happened shortly before 11:30 a.m. Sunday near Portland and Stonewall Avenues.

When officers arrived they located a 2005 Nissan Altima that had crashed into a telephone pole near the
intersection. Shell casings were also located inside the vehicle and in the roadway.

Investigators gathered enough evidence to link 21-year-old Laderrick Samuels to the shooting.

Samuels and an accomplice were allegedly driving the Nissan Altima and shooting at the victim, who was on foot. The victim was not injured in the shooting.

Detectives believe that the shooting stemmed from another shooting that occurred on Saturday at the Lakeside Garden Apartments in the 2300 block of Marion St.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Samuel charging him with one count of Principal to Illegal Use of Weapons (Motor Vehicle Enhancement).  His bond has been set at $500,000.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Samuels is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373 or to visit the organization’s website at Lockemup.org.

A decade after the crash, Shannon Valley housing estate , on the outskirts of Ballaghaderreen, in Co Roscommon, remains unfinished and partly in ruins. Although the number of “ unfinished housing developments ” has fallen sharply since 2010, Shannon Valley is one of hundreds that still dot the country. The Guls: ‘Every day I put rats in the bin’ Fatima Gul says her little brother, Yousaf, doesn’t like the rats. He jumps up on the sofa or the table in the living room when they come into the house. Their parents don’t allow Fatimar, who is 10, or her nine-year-old sister, Maryam, or Yousaf and his twin, Zohra, who are five, to play near the houses on the other side of their green. It’s too close to the rats and the rubble. Shannon Valley “ ghost estate ” outside Ballaghaderreen, Co Roscommon.
