Like to join the management team at our family run hotel as Assistant General Manager?

The hotel is centrally located in Wick, in the far north of Scotland, surrounded by stunning landscapes, with history dating back to the Picts and protected peatlands. The surrounding area of Wick offers golfing, trout and salmon fishing, archaeological sites, remote fishing villages with plenty of history and a reputation for being a retreat and more. It’s an ideal place to bring up children with clean air and good schools. Local amenities include; swimming pool, gym, tennis courts, squash courts and if you prefer the outdoors we have plenty open spaces to explore. Two hours’ drive from Inverness the capital of the Highlands of Scotland, Wick has both bus, rail and air links.
Our historic building been complemented by contemporary refurbishment and furnishings. As well as 30 bedrooms, 5 apartments and 3 villas in the hotel portfolio there is a bar, bistro, restaurant and function room.

As our Assistant General Manager, you will have proven leadership success in hotel management with a minimum 3 years relevant experience in hotels. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the hotel and its staff and will have commercial accountability for planning, organising and directing all hotel services, including front-of-house (reception, reservations), food and beverage operations and housekeeping.
While taking a strategic overview and planning ahead to maximise profits, you will also pay attention to the details, setting the example for staff to deliver a standard of service and presentation that meets guests' needs and expectations. Business and people management are equally important elements.
Our hotel prides itself in high end customer service, for this as our Assistant General Manager you will have excellent levels of English both verbal and written. A good working knowledge of Scotland and cultural differences is important for us.
You will be friendly and want to help and please others, a quick thinking individual who wants to continuously improve, with a professional manner and a calm, rational approach in hectic situations, who can balance customer and business priorities.
You'll work busy shifts like everyone else – at least a 43 hour week, but most likely whatever it takes to get the job done. At Mackays we don’t work you into the ground though – not good for you or our business!
