(Sea view from the private rooftop pool of a six-bedroom penthouse at Cape Royale in Sentosa Cove. Photo: Ho Bee Land) Expensive as they may be, the new generation of penthouses on sale here are gaining a lot of traction with property buyers. But just how much does a penthouse cost today and what are the attractions to living in one? Over in prime district 10, Sun Tongyu, co-founder of Alibaba, paid $51 million for the sole penthouse spread across 13,573 square feet on the top two levels of Wing Tai's freehold Le Nouvel Ardmore two years ago - the biggest amount paid for a penthouse in Singapore at the time. SC Global Developments recently smashed that record when it sold the 10, 300 sq ft super penthouse at Sculptura Ardmore for more than S$60 million or in excess of S$6,000 per square foot. The luxury residential developer could set another record when it finds a buyer for the 17, 642 sq ft penthouse on the top three levels - 23, 24 and 25 - in the Signature Tower at Th...

Developer looks to bring more affordable housing to north Cheyenne | Local News

CHEYENNE – An Oregon developer is looking to bring more subsidized apartments to the north side of the city. Commonwealth Development Corporation is pushing plans for a two-building, 41-unit development at 4306 Dell Range Blvd ., which is just east of College Drive and north of Dell Range. The project received approval Thursday night for a conditional use on the property from the Cheyenne Board of Adjustment. The development still needs to be rezoned and annexed into the city by the City Council, since the property is in a county pocket. The council’s Public Services Committee will hear testimony on those changes Tuesday. The introduction of the three-story complex comes on the heels of a debate over a larger income-restricted development about 2 miles away. Summit Housing Group got its rezoning request approved during Monday night’s City Council meeting for property east of Converse Avenue between Dell Range and Storey boulevards. Nearby homeowners had voiced their opposition ...

In Exton area, an explosion of building activity

WEST WHITELAND >> Call it the development of Exton, 2.0. The area is undergoing a renewed interest with development that has the township buzzing with new projects. From a new supermarket – a Whole Foods, which the township has been told will open in January – to a post- operation rehabilitation facility , with plenty of housing in between, the Exton area is a hot spot for building again with more than 20 projects in the ground or on the drawing board. “There’s a lot happening now,” observed Mimi Gleason , West Whiteland ’s township manager. “A lot of it is because of the economy, the pent-up demand, and a lot of it is because the three supervisors we have now wanted to encourage redevelopment.” Advertisement The completion of the Exton Square Mall in 1973 helped put the Exton area on the map and through the decades leading up to the 2008 Great Recession the township saw steady growth with the development of other retail centers like Whiteland Towne Center , Fairfie...

(Photo: Romain Blanquart/ Detroit Free Press ) Buy Photo An unprecedented building boom of apartment high -rises and condos has made construction cranes a lingering fixture of the Ann Arbor skyline . No fewer than six cranes hovered over downtown last week as private developers raced to erect more luxury student and post-collegiate housing within walking distance to University of Michigan classrooms. The half- dozen residential projects that are under construction or slated to begin are the latest round in a boom that has been under way for at least three years and is permanently altering the city's housing situation. Many of the current and earlier developments specifically cater to U-M students, offering additional near- campus living options aside from blocks of grubby old houses. Other projects have ta...

Tiburon Apartments One Step Away from Final Approval

There was some confusion among Planning Commission members during their Nov. 26 meeting this week. Will The Tiburon apartment complex be built if the city doesn't create the public infrastructure necessary to sustain it? Commissioners weren't sure of the answer. In October, when City Councilmembers approved preliminary plans for The Tiburon, the council liked the idea of new development, but knew the proposed location on Olson Memorial Highway would need some public improvement, like sidewalks and improved street lighting . Councilmembers asked the Housing and Development Authority to explore the idea of designating the area near Tiburon as a Tax Increment Financing district , or a TIF district. But on Monday night, when the Planning Commission was asked to recommend approval of final planned unit development plans for the apartment buildings, some commissioners weren't sure if they should approve plans without knowing if the area would become a TIF district. Olathe OKs apartment complex at 119th, Pflumm

The Olathe City Council on Tuesday approved rezoning 27 acres at the southwest corner of 119 th Street and Pflumm Road for a 240- unit apartment complex . The 6-1 vote came after almost a dozen neighbors spoke against the project and dozens more wrote letters and emails to the city voicing their own opposition. But while the residents were unable to scuttle the project itself, they were able to persuade the council to ax plans to connect 123 rd Street through the development to Pflumm Road as planned, a move they warned would have dumped fast-moving traffic on the doorstep of Heatherstone Elementary School . “If we are going to make considerations and alterations to the infrastructure of our city based on residents that are not here in these apartments now, I plead with you to protect the citizens that are here and living in this neighborhood now,” said Tim Laughlin, who lives across the street from the school. The thin strip of land has sat unused since being rezoned in 2001 and ...
