Multi-million dollar aged development gets nod

THE development of a $ 100 million senior residential care facility in Coffs Harbour has been approved. At a Northern Joint Regional Planning Panel public determination meeting the panel voted in favour of the Bachrach Naumburger Group development . The development will include a 120 bed care facility , 183 self-contained dwellings and a community centre on the corner of Arthur and York Sts. Concerns were raised over flooding, single road access and building height but most of the panel thought these issues had been addressed in plans. The development was voted for 3-1. Bachrach Naumburger Group general manager Steve Gooley said he was always confident in getting the application through. "At the moment there is significant waiting lists to get into nursing homes in Coffs Harbour and there is very limited accommodation for retirement living,” Mr Gooley said. He said the project would create more than 200 jobs which would mostly be locally sourced. Mr Gooley said construction s...

Developers want to build apartments on a vacant plot of land off Ann Arbor-Saline Road, which was once planned to be a motel and restaurant building. Lizzy Alfs | AnnArbor.com Pittsfield Township Planning Commission will consider plans Thursday night for a proposed apartment complex behind the Oak Valley Centre on Ann Arbor-Saline Road. The Oak Valley Apartments project — proposed for a vacant piece of land behind the northern portion of the shopping center anchored by Target — calls to construct 16 buildings with 192 total apartment units . The plans were submitted to the township in late 2012 by a group of business partners who also own the northern section of the shopping center. Planning Commission considered the plans in March and asked the developers to make several changes, including reorienting two buildings on the site to better protect a wetland. Olathe OKs apartment complex at 119th, Pflumm

The Olathe City Council on Tuesday approved rezoning 27 acres at the southwest corner of 119 th Street and Pflumm Road for a 240- unit apartment complex . The 6-1 vote came after almost a dozen neighbors spoke against the project and dozens more wrote letters and emails to the city voicing their own opposition. But while the residents were unable to scuttle the project itself, they were able to persuade the council to ax plans to connect 123 rd Street through the development to Pflumm Road as planned, a move they warned would have dumped fast-moving traffic on the doorstep of Heatherstone Elementary School . “If we are going to make considerations and alterations to the infrastructure of our city based on residents that are not here in these apartments now, I plead with you to protect the citizens that are here and living in this neighborhood now,” said Tim Laughlin, who lives across the street from the school. The thin strip of land has sat unused since being rezoned in 2001 and ...
