Hundreds of apartments are being built — and hundreds more are coming — as part of the Fireclay development that promises to transform a once-dilapidated side of town. The first phase of the project, Lions Gate at Fireclay, began earlier this year. Renters are expected to arrive by next spring. The next phase, Brick Gate at Fireclay, is scheduled to start next month. Construction will take 20 months. Massive Renovation Helps Fountain Place Secure 500,000 SF in Renewals

May 25, 2017— A number of major renovation projects are in the works along Ross Avenue in downtown Dallas . Arguably the most significant is the redevelopment of Fountain Place , where owner Goddard Investment Group was the first to kick off activity in this cycle. The $ 70 million renovation includes office tower enhancements and a new 10-story garage with four plaza- level restaurants at its base. Additionally, AMLI Residential is developing a stunning new 45-story, luxury apartment high -rise at the corner of Field Street and Munger Avenue. The redevelopment of Fountain Place has been a key factor in securing renewals from five major office tenants . The latest to recommit is Bracewell LLP , whic¬h recently extended its lease for nearly 40,000 square feet. This follows renewals from Wells Fargo (123,650 square feet) and Gerald Ray (11,500 square feet) earlier this year. The first two big tenants to recommit were Tenet Healthcare (240,000 square feet) and Hunton & Williams...

Difference between housing society and apartments owners association and condominium

The meaning of Condominium is a Building or Complex of Buildings containing a number of individually owned Apartments or houses. Though this concept isvery old one of ownership for buildings in Mumbai, it is the Co- operative Housing Society model which has been and even today, is the most popular and preferred so far. Buyers who purchase premises on an 'ownership' basis require to come together to manage the building and for that purpose, one of the ways is to form a Co- operative Society , which is regulated by the Maharashtra Co- operative Societies Act , 1960. An alternative to a Co- operative Housing Society was introduced by the Maharashtra Apartment Ownership Act , 1970, which provides for the formation of a Condominium. The buyers of premises in a Condominium are called Apartment owners who form an association known as an 'Association of Apartment Owners ' in case of both i.e. residential as well as non-residential premises. The meaning of...

In Exton area, an explosion of building activity

WEST WHITELAND >> Call it the development of Exton, 2.0. The area is undergoing a renewed interest with development that has the township buzzing with new projects. From a new supermarket – a Whole Foods, which the township has been told will open in January – to a post- operation rehabilitation facility , with plenty of housing in between, the Exton area is a hot spot for building again with more than 20 projects in the ground or on the drawing board. “There’s a lot happening now,” observed Mimi Gleason , West Whiteland ’s township manager. “A lot of it is because of the economy, the pent-up demand, and a lot of it is because the three supervisors we have now wanted to encourage redevelopment.” Advertisement The completion of the Exton Square Mall in 1973 helped put the Exton area on the map and through the decades leading up to the 2008 Great Recession the township saw steady growth with the development of other retail centers like Whiteland Towne Center , Fairfie...

As UConn returns, a chapter in Hartford’s history is completed

Image
UConn’s place in the Hartford skyline . Hartford — For nearly a half-century, the University of Connecticut has had no place to call its own in the state’s capital city. Today that changes as Connecticut’s flagship university opens the doors of its new $140- million downtown branch campus on Prospect Street . The arrival of the campus, which comes after five years of false starts and setbacks, is a milestone for the university and the city of Hartford. Hundreds attended the grand opening ceremony downtown Wednesday morning . For UConn, it marks the institution’s return from the suburbs into the heart of the city – where the school first opened its Greater Hartford branch in 1939. It moved to West Hartford in 1970. The university, in the years since, had been able to continue to claim a “presence” downtown. Some of UConn’s graduate business programs are housed in a space it leases in 100 Constitution Plaza, and the university’s basketball and ice hockey teams play games in the XL ...

Tall Oaks Village Center in Reston to be Reborn as Mixed Use Redevelopment

Image
When it was first built in the early 70s, Reston’s Tall Oaks Village Center faced little retail competition, but its fortunes changed when the Reston Town Center ’s shops and restaurants opened in 1990. It was dealt another blow when its anchor tenant, grocer Giant, closed its doors in 2007. Today, the 70, 000 square foot shopping center is 86 percent empty. However, the languishing center is set to take rebirth as a vibrant mixed use development with housing, retail, office and open space . The Board of Supervisors recently approved Jefferson Apartment Group ’s redevelopment plans for the village center . This has been a very difficult center to remodel or upgrade, and I hope Jefferson is able to provide what is needed to start that Supervisor Cathy Hudgins, Hunter Mill District Located at the corner of Wiehle Avenue and North Shore Drive , the village center is one of five in Reston, although it’s the smallest at about 18 acres. It’s the first to be redeveloped though si...
