BARCELONA, Spain (AP) -- Catalan authorities say a woman injured in an attack in a popular seaside town south of Barcelona has died. Sterling Heights fire officials continue to investigate a fire at an apartment complex that killed a 33-year-old woman and injured four other people late Wednesday at the Sterling Knolls Apartments . Laura Ann Phillips , who would have celebrated her 34th birthday Saturday , died in the blaze, officials said. Firefighters from Sterling Heights , Warren, Shelby Township and Utica responded to the fire at about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday at the apartment complex, located on 15 Mile Road, east of Dodge Park Road . Sterling Heights Fire Chief Chris Martin said flames at one eight- unit building quickly spread to an adjoining eight-unit building in the complex, triggering a second-alarm. The two were killed in a three-alarm blaze that left 11 adults and nine children homeless. The fire destroyed their apartment and heavily damaged two of the seven others in the 100-year-old former St. Mary's Church at 62 School St. The Brelsfords -- whose names were confirmed by neighbors and co-workers but not fire or police officials -- were the third and fourth victims of fatal fires in Connecticut this week. Payday wasn’t until Friday, though, and Leon only had $5 left on his food stamps card . During the three years they spent at Savannah State , Sanders and Leon struggled to pay their tuition, fees and living expenses. They accumulated more than $50,000 in loans between the two of them, despite working up to 40 hours a week. After exhausting themselves working late or overnight shifts so they wouldn’t have to miss class, and finding their grades suffering, they dropped out in 2015, joining a growing pool of Georgians who have debt but no degree.
