When Clint Eastwood was challenged to a real-life duel over an affair to remember

As Carmel’s one- time mayor Clint Eastwood began building a legendary film career celebrating models of American male rectitude , he often presented himself as the stalwart family man . But in recent years, even Eastwood admitted that this image didn’t always match reality. Biographies and other accounts portray him as a serial philander who conducted numerous affairs during his 31-year first marriage and in his subsequent relationships. He also fathered at least seven children with five different women. As the now 87-year-old Eastwood prepares to direct his latest film, “The 15:17 to Paris,” one of his affairs has popped up as a new storyline in the popular Hollywood history podcast “You Must Remember This.” The podcast currently focuses on the life and times of one of the women Eastwood reportedly bedded : actress Jean Seberg . If you don’t know Seberg, she’s a screen icon in her own right — but one who died tragically by suicide at age 40 in 1979. She’s most famous as the blonde...

Except he also did something most people probably wouldn't do. He videotaped the dance. And then he put it on Twitter. Takkarist McKinley @Takk To see my family struggle everyday growing up and now I can help change that..YES I'M HAPPY😊! "He's a big old kid having fun and living the dream," says Alonzo Carter, who coached him at Contra Costa College . "He doesn't get too caught up in himself, and he can give you a piece." Yes...

The long retail spine of Sydney Road, Brunswick, just north of Melbourne's CBD, was once a prosperous trading outpost on the way to the goldfields. These days it's a bohemian mix of variety stores, op shops, halal butchers and Lebanese bakeries. Take a side street to the west, however, and a different picture emerges. Sandwiched between Sydney Road and the Upfield train line is an area undergoing rapid and widespread transformation. Light industry is fast being replaced by mid- rise apartment buildings , their inhabitants attracted by the short commute into town and cheaper prices than in the city's south-east. The quality of these units is, on the whole, depressingly bad; think poor ventilation and bedrooms that "borrow" natural light (a weasel word for being dark and windowless). The occasional jazzy façade tries feebly to make up for otherwise cheap construction amid a chorus of greys. At ground level, carpark roller doors alternate with mean pocket garden...

Emmy Nominee Michael Kelly on Stopping Self-Doubt, Auditions, and Paying It Forward" /> Photo Source: Matt Doyle It took Michael Kelly seven years before he managed to earn a living as an actor. He was 30 years old. And even then, he didn’t quit his part-time job. It would take a decade more for him to land the role that changed his career. As the laconic Doug Stamper on Netflix’s “House of Cards,” Kelly has proven himself to be the show’s secret weapon, embodying the cruelty of politics that the Kevin Spacey–starring drama so perfectly captures. That belated breakout role , which has earned him an Emmy nomination three years running in the supporting actor in a drama category , has opened plenty of opportunities. But it hasn’t changed the strong work ethic and pragmatic approach that has characterized this working actor’s decades-spanning career. Sharing appetizers mere blocks away from where he’d worked (with a flexible schedule) at a small consignment shop for high-en...
