TH Real Estate Picks Up 228-Unit FL Community

TH Real Estate, a subsidiary of TIAA, purchased The Atlantic at East Delray, a 228- unit community in Delray Beach, Fla. PS Vinings Owner LLC , a partnership between Pollack Shores and an affiliate of Heitman LLC, sold the property. According to the Daily Business Review , the asset traded for $54.3 million. Executive Managing Directors Avery Klann and Hampton Beebe, Director Jonathan Senn , Transaction Manager Matthew Scarola and Vice Chairmen Dick Donnellan and Marc deBaptiste, all from ARA Newmark, represented the sellers in the transaction. Shaftesbury PLC Strategic addition to Soho ownership Shaftesbury PLC, the Real Estate Investment Trust which owns a 14½ acre portfolio in London's West End, announces that it has entered in to a contract with PMB Holdings Limited to acquire a long-leasehold interest in 90-104 Berwick Street, Soho, London W1 at a price of £38.5 million. Located at the southern end of Berwick Street, the property is currently being redeveloped to provide 12,500 sq. ft of retail, a 5,500 sq. ft. supermarket, a 2,000 sq. ft. restaurant and a 110 bedroom hotel. Both the hotel and supermarket have been pre-let. The redevelopment is expected to complete in late 2018, which will, subject to satisfying various contractual conditions, trigger the completion of the acquisition. Commenting on the transaction, Brian Bickell, Chief Executive of Shaftesbury, commented: 'We are pleased to have secured this strategic acquisition , which materially increases our ownership of Berwick Street frontages to 50%....

The long retail spine of Sydney Road, Brunswick, just north of Melbourne's CBD, was once a prosperous trading outpost on the way to the goldfields. These days it's a bohemian mix of variety stores, op shops, halal butchers and Lebanese bakeries. Take a side street to the west, however, and a different picture emerges. Sandwiched between Sydney Road and the Upfield train line is an area undergoing rapid and widespread transformation. Light industry is fast being replaced by mid- rise apartment buildings , their inhabitants attracted by the short commute into town and cheaper prices than in the city's south-east. The quality of these units is, on the whole, depressingly bad; think poor ventilation and bedrooms that "borrow" natural light (a weasel word for being dark and windowless). The occasional jazzy façade tries feebly to make up for otherwise cheap construction amid a chorus of greys. At ground level, carpark roller doors alternate with mean pocket garden...
