Mainstreet Cleveland announced Friday award recipients for the Mainstreet Cleveland Property Enhancement Grant program .  Ten properties in downtown Cleveland were selected to receive grants totaling $54,953.  Based on the investments of these 10 projects, a total of more than $240,000 will be reinvested into downtown properties.     The Mainstreet Cleveland Property Enhancement Grant was formed to encourage building owners and tenants to invest in properties located within the Mainstreet Cleveland footprint by financially assisting with building needs that serve an appropriate public purpose and benefit.   Positive building appearance has been proven to increase property values , improve the marketability of space within the building and attract new businesses, residents and visitors to an area, said officials.  This decision was a difficult one for the grant selection committee , 24 quality applications were submitted.  In fact, the projects were so impressive that the Mainstre...

The Olathe City Council on Tuesday approved rezoning 27 acres at the southwest corner of 119 th Street and Pflumm Road for a 240- unit apartment complex . The 6-1 vote came after almost a dozen neighbors spoke against the project and dozens more wrote letters and emails to the city voicing their own opposition. Opponents have organized against an effort to rein in rent increases in Maine’s largest city. A group calling itself Say No To Rent Control announced its formal opposition Tuesday to Fair Rent Portland ‘s initiative to adopt a rent stabilization ordinance by referendum in November. The announcement sets the stage for a vigorous fall campaign , which comes as longtime residents and low- wage renters worry that a steep rise in rents and the influx of luxury housing is leading to gentrification and a growing affordability gap between incomes and housing costs. They also said traffic would worsen on Mill Slough Road and Woodcrest Boulevard if Palm State Development in Lakeland goes through with its plans to build about 180 houses and 200 apartments over three to five years. Shaftesbury PLC Strategic addition to Soho ownership Shaftesbury PLC, the Real Estate Investment Trust which owns a 14½ acre portfolio in London's West End, announces that it has entered in to a contract with PMB Holdings Limited to acquire a long-leasehold interest in 90-104 Berwick Street, Soho, London W1 at a price of £38.5 million. Located at the southern end of Berwick Street, the property is currently being redeveloped to provide 12,500 sq. ft of retail, a 5,500 sq. ft. supermarket, a 2,000 sq. ft. restaurant and a 110 bedroom hotel. Both the hotel and supermarket have been pre-let. The redevelopment is expected to complete in late 2018, which will, subject to satisfying various contractual conditions, trigger the completion of the acquisition.
