Jackson Fire Department Battalion Chief David Pruitt said the cause of the fire is still under investigation, but the fire appears to have started in a second floor apartment. Pruitt said the fire began in apartment 101, and the entire building sustained heavy damage from smoke and water. EDEN — One person is confirmed dead following an early morning fire at Arbor Ridge, an assisted-living community. The victim, whose name and gender have not been released, was removed from a badly-burned, upper-floor apartment at 2:30 p.m., 13 hours after the fire broke out. Rescue crews put the victim on a gurney and lowered it to the ground with an Eden Fire Department ladder truck . “Sadly, a resident passed away,” Arbor Ridge said in a statement released Monday afternoon . “The entire Arbor Ridge at Eden family is deeply saddened by the tragic loss of a cherished member of our community and our prayers are with the late resident’s family.” When the victim was pulled from the building, several friends and family members gathered in a circle across the street and prayed. ASHWAUBENON, Wis. (WBAY) - The Red Cross in helping people who lived in twelve apartments find places to stay this Memorial Day Weekend , after a fire heavily damages an Ashwaubenon apartment complex . Firefighters work to extinguish a fire at Foxcroft Apartments in Ashwaubenon on May 28, 2017. Ashwaubenon Public Safety Chief Eric Dunning says fire units were called to the Foxcroft Apartments on Viking Drive at about 6:00 Sunday night. Flames were already coming through the roof and windows of a two-story, twelve unit, building. Neighboring fire departments also helped fight the fire. One person was taken to the hospital to be checked out after breathing in too much smoke. Everyone else in the building, and four cats, safely escaped. No firefighters were hurt. ( Photo John Ruch ) The blaze at the apartment complex , located off North Peachtree Road in Dunwoody, left a two- story hole burned and bashed through part of the building’s back wall. Previously known under different management as Broadstone at Dunwoody, the complex, which contains hundreds of apartments, has seen at least two other major fires in the past three years. A January 2014 blaze heavily damaged units at 2436 Dunwoody Crossing, and a December 2015 fire in the complex displaced about 10 households.
