Mainstreet Cleveland announced Friday award recipients for the Mainstreet Cleveland Property Enhancement Grant program .  Ten properties in downtown Cleveland were selected to receive grants totaling $54,953.  Based on the investments of these 10 projects, a total of more than $240,000 will be reinvested into downtown properties.     The Mainstreet Cleveland Property Enhancement Grant was formed to encourage building owners and tenants to invest in properties located within the Mainstreet Cleveland footprint by financially assisting with building needs that serve an appropriate public purpose and benefit.   Positive building appearance has been proven to increase property values , improve the marketability of space within the building and attract new businesses, residents and visitors to an area, said officials.  This decision was a difficult one for the grant selection committee , 24 quality applications were submitted.  In fact, the projects were so impressive that the Mainstre...

The historic LaSalle Bed and Breakfast Inn will have a new owner, but it will continue providing downtown innkeeping under the same name, its longtime owners and the buyer said. Clark and Rose- Aimee Butler sold the inn business and property Tuesday to Mike Anderson, a real estate investor who describes himself as an "old house nerd" whose West Central Properties business owns 175 residential units — including the Sheridan Court Apartments on Union Street — in the historic West Central neighborhood west of downtown. The sale price was not disclosed. The sale includes the LaSalle inn's historic main house at 517 W. Washington Blvd. and the even older Sion Bass House & Spa just east of it at 509 W. The city of Indianapolis is prepared to commit up to $4.6 million to the downtown Bottleworks project , with most of the amount needed to move an electric transmission line running through the site. A 38- page project agreement between the city and developer Hendricks Commercial Properties , set to be approved Wednesday by the Metropolitan Development Commission , outlines city costs associated with the project, along with other details. Beloit, Wisconsin-based Hendricks in July won approval from the Indianapolis Historic Preservation Commission to build the $260 million project on the 11-acre site of the former Coca- Cola bottling plant . Construction on the property at North College and Massachusetts avenues is expected to begin early next year.
