Ruptured Gas Line Causes San Clemente Home's Garage to Explode; No Injuries Reported

By Eric Heinz A ruptured gas line caused an explosion inside a garage of a San Clemente home about 3 a.m. on Thursday morning , Aug. 24, on the 100 block of Avenida Dolores. Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) officials said there were no injuries in the explosion. A man and a woman who were living inside the home of the garage had only moments to escape out their back door, as the explosion caught the home on fire and blocked one of their exits.  [embedded content] The explosion of the single-story home’s garage was so massive that it spread debris all over the street, according to nearby residents. Almost nothing was left of the structure except the foundation and burt pieces of it. Because the gas line explosion took place behind the utility meter, SoCal Gas and OCFA had to shut it off by digging under the home’s driveway and manually stop it, said OCFA spokesperson Capt . One accused of possessing hoax bomb in Hunters Creek complex

One person was arrested and accused of possessing a hoax bomb after Orange County officials spent Thursday afternoon searching an apartment complex for explosives. Orange County deputies got a call about a possible bomb at the Camden Hunters Creek Apartments complex around 4:30 p.m., Orange County sheriff 's spokesman Jeff Williamson said. Officials evacuated some of the units at the complex and searched the area looking for anything dangerous, Williamson said. They did not find explosives, but did arrest one person. His name was not released Thursday night . They also closed Town Loop Boulevard at John Young Parkway , leading to traffic in the area. No injuries were reported. This is a breaking news story .
