Seven Casa Del Rio apartment units sold at launch Published on: Saturday, December 01, 2012 Melaka: Seven of the 32 apartment units in Casa del Rio Residences , an exclusive apartment overlooking the Melaka river bay , were sold at the launch here Friday. Tan Sri Syed Yusof Tun Syed Nasir , group managing director of the project developer Casa del Rio Sdn Bhd , said the residences, valued at around RM60 million, took about three years to complete. "The concept of the Casa del Rio Residences is that we want to provide an elegant, high-class residence, the first of its kind, right in the heart of Melaka town," he told reporters after the launch. GREENWICH, CONN. — Monument Partners LLC , an entity owned by affiliates of Starwood Capital Group and Milestone Apartments Real Estate Investment Trust (TSX: MST.UN), has entered into an agreement to acquire Landmark Apartment Trust Inc. in an all- cash transaction valued at $1.9 billion, including the assumption of existing debt. Under the terms of the deal, Starwood Global Opportunity Fund X, through a controlled affiliate, will acquire Landmark Apartment Trust ’s ownership interest in 19,615 units in 63 apartment communities . The portfolio is located in eight Sunbelt states, with major concentrations in Dallas, Atlanta, Orlando, Tampa, Charlotte and Nashville. Combined, the firm has added six properties (four in Texas, two in North Carolina ) to its portfolio. On Wednesday the company announced that it had partnered with DeBartolo Development and LEM Capital to acquire four garden- style assets located in San Antonio and Austin for approximately $44 million. Collectively, the Texas portfolio consists of 771 units that are 95 percent occupied. MOUNT PLEASANT - A fire at a 20-unit apartment complex Saturday morning left nine families displaced and sent one man to the hospital. The fire started at about 5:30 a.m. in Indian Hills Apartments , 4824 Indian Hills Drive , said South Shore Fire Department Chief William Bouma. It's the same building where a large fire took place in 2003, but the damage was not as bad this time because of safety precautions, Bouma said. The fire Saturday morning entirely gutted the apartment where it started and there was smoke and water damage to some of the other apartments, he said. Nine of the 20 units were left uninhabitable , said Anne Tabbert, a public support coordinator with the Red Cross, which responded to the scene.
